MADURAI: The Bishop of Madurai Ramnad Diocese Rt.Rev. Prince Jeyasingh Prabhakaran had shot down the proposal to make the American College in Madurai as a Deemed to be University. At the college’s Governing Council meeting held in Madurai on last Saturday (17th December 2022), a proposal was made by the American College Principal and Secretary Dr.M.Davamani Christober and this proposal was shot down and not accepted by the Bishop of Madurai Ramnad Diocese, reliable sources told ‘LotusTimes’ website here today.
“The president of the governing council of American College and the Bishop of Madurai Ramnad Diocese Rev.Prince Jeyasingh Prabhaharan had asserted in the governing council meeting last Saturday- on 17th December 2022- that he will not accept to make American College as a Deemed University because the college is always pro-poor. In that governing council meeting, it was also decided to honour the Court orders on the appointment of Mr.Stephen and Dr.Prabhakar Vedhamanickam as HoD of Mathematics and Tamil departments respectively, sources said.
