MADURAI: For the famous Karthigai Deepam festival at Tiruvannamalai temple, a direct train from Madurai to Tiruvannamalai will be operated thanks to the special arrangement made by the Southern Railway from Madurai Division for the convenience of pilgrims who want to go to Tiruvannamalai to see the Karthigai Deepam.
A press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here today has informed that the Madurai-Villupuram-Madurai special train on December 6th and 7th is being extended upto Tiruvannamalai, in view of the Karthigai Deepam festival. The Madurai-Villupuram train (number 16868) will start from Madurai at 04.05 am and reach Villupuram at 11.15 am as per usual timings. This train will again start at 11.30 am from Villupuram and reach Thiruvannamalai at 1.05 pm, according to the railway press release.
Train number 16867 from Tiruvannamalai to Madurai will leave Tiruvannamalai at 3 pm and come to Villupuram at 4.25 pm. From there, the train leave sat 4.35 pm and reach Madurai at 11.30 pm. This train will stop at Thirukkoilyur.
