MADURAI: A major development took place for the American College in Madurai today (on 30th November 2022) as the Madras High Court Madurai Bench has instructed to appoint Dr.Prabahar Vedhamickam as the Head of Department of Tamil of American College.
“The honourable Madurai Bench of our Madras High Court has directed the American College to appoint Dr.Prabahar Vedhamanickam as Head of Department of Tamil in the ensuing Governing Council meeting of the college or within 6 weeks, whichever is earlier,” sources in the higher education department told ‘LotusTimes’ here today- on 30th November 2022.
Dr.R.Prabahar Vedhamanickam is associate professor in Tamil Department of American College in Madurai, and he is a petitioner had appealed to the court that he should be the Head of Department of Tamil (postgraduate) based on seniority and not a junior who was made as HoD, by overlooking the seniority.
“The college managements should not appoint juniors as Head of Department…We heave strong belief in our legal system and courts….There should be justice for all and I am happy with the High Court direction…. American College and students should not suffer because of HoD appointments,” Dr.Prabahar Vedhamanickam has said in his first reaction to ‘LotusTimes’ website www.lotustimes.org, here on November 30th 2022.
