MADURAI: The various assets and properties of American College Principal and Secretary Dr.M.Davamani Christober is coming into focus as an enquiry is set to start soon by the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education-Madurai, following complaints lodged with DVAC by college professors against the college Principal, alleging misappropriation of funds and assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
This enquiry was ordered by the Director of Collegiate Education Mr.M.Eswaramoorthy on November 23rd 2022, by asking the RJD Madurai to conduct a fair enquiry based on DVAC communication. The complainants are S.Stephen, R.Prabahar Vedamanickam, S.Premsingh and D.Stephen and they have alleged in their complaints that the present Principal and Secretary of American College Dr.Davamani Christober has amassed several properties and wealth through various sources including faculty appointments. (The full details of the complaint, allegations and communication in this matter is available with LotusTimes).
WHAT ARE THE PROPERTIES MENTIONED IN THE COMPLAINT?
In their complaint to the DVAC Director last year, the college faculty members have provided information about the properties acquired by Principal Dr.Davamani Christober. The complaint sent to the DVAC had mentioned about 17.56 acres of coconut farm with a bungalow near Palamedu, a palatial villa in NR Nagar on Madurai Natham national highway, his buildings in Madurai city and a posh bungalow being built in his native village Naripaiyur.
Dr.Davamani became the Principal of American College in Madurai in October 2011, the letter sent to DVAC has said and gave a comprehensive list of his movable and immovable assets. After taking cognizance of the complainants’ allegations, an inquiry is now going to be undertaken by the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education in Madurai, based on the faculty members’ complaint to the DVAC-Tamil Nadu.
PRINCIPAL REFUTES ALLEGATIONS:
The American College Principal Dr.Davamani Christober has today denied all the allegations and accusations made by the college faculty members in their complaint to the DVAC about the misappropriation of funds and disproportionate assets. “This complaint by four of our faculty members is done with a mala fide intention and vested interests. The DVAC has only forwarded it to the Directorate of Collegiate Education only for verification, that’s all. Some of them want to occupy the Principal’s position and I am honestly telling that there is no truth in these allegations and complaint. I will face it,” Dr.Davamani Christober told ‘LotusTimes’ in Madurai on 29th November 2022-Tuesday.
