MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has submitted a few important appeals, representations and memorandums to the All-India BJP president Mr.J.P.Nadda in Madurai today- on September 22nd 2022. Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, association president, had submitted the appeals in person in Madurai today on GST issues, Food Safety and Standards Act, Plastic Waste management, Madurai airport extension etc.
It was pointed out in the memorandum that the taxes rate of essential commodities and services are fixed very high in GST and hence an appeal was made to Mr.Nadda that a meeting with Union Finance Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman should be called to submit the GST grievances with proof. The defects in Foodsafety Act and the need for a meeting with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr.Mansukh Mandaviya along with FSSAI top officials was also raised by the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, in its representation submitted to BJP national chief Mr.JP Nadda here in Madurai today.
ON PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT:
On plastic ban also, association president Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam has given a special representation to Mr.Nadda to take steps for hearing the difficulties on plastics ban, because “there is now no alternative packing materials available in the market for packing food items. The BAN ON THE PRESENT PLASTIC MATERIALS should be lifted till alternate packing materials are available at large in the market.”
The TN Foodgrains Merchants Association had also appealed to the BJP national chief Mr.J.P.Nadda in Madurai today that steps should be taken to extend the Madurai airport runway and announce Madurai as an international airport.
Requirements and appeals under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act and problems faced due to demand to pay the MARKET COMMITTEE CESS fees in Tamil Nadu for agricultural produces brought from other States or imported from other countries were taken to the attention of BJP national president Mr.Nadda’a attention.
