MADURAI: The Madurai district administration is geared up to handle heavy rains impact and the effect of overflowing Vaigai River as officials have started quick measures to handle the inundation in rain affected areas in Madurai city. On September 1st 2022, Madurai District Collector Dr.S.Aneesh Sekhar had inspected the preparedness of disaster management teams to handle the heavy rains’ effect along the Vaigai river bank areas in Madurai city and areas that are getting waterlogged due to heavy rains in Madurai region for the past few days.
The Madurai District Collector Dr.Aneesh Sekhar had on September 1st 2022 inspected the arrangements that were made to shift people in rain flood affected areas in Madurai to temporary relief shelter camps. After inspection of rain flooded localities to ensure relief works, he spoke to mediapersons at CEOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Kosakulam to give details about the special steps taken on a war-footing for the rain affected people. Also, from the District Collectorate, a special control room for disaster relief is functioning and the Madurai District Collector has been monitoring the flood relief activities and how the disaster management teams are ready and in full preparedness at 5 places in Madurai district.
