Panipuri & paneer gravy shops in Madurai to see RAIDS soon as Food Safety officials receive public complaints

MADURAI: The Food Safety teams in Madurai are working very actively by conducting inspections and raids on eateries, restaurants and roadside mobile units. Sources in the Health Department here in Madurai told ‘LotusTimes’ news website www.lotustimes.org that the Food Safety officials have received complaints about the unhygienic kitchens in about 20 hotels in Madurai city and about the unhygienic way in which roadside mobile eateries are selling ‘PANIPURI, PANEER GRAVY, CHICKEN 65’ and also sweets being sold in very bad public health conditions.

On August 27th 2022, public health sources said that there is going to be a special drive of raids in Madurai on non-veg food shops, eateries, sweets being sold with excess/ artificial colouring, edible oil shops selling oil in retail, Chicken 65 doubts, adding of synthetics for colouring to food items, paneer gravy colouring, PANIPURI items being sold in roadside mobile units and eateries etc. “Unsanitary conditions is the issue here. Also, hotels in Madurai will be inspected. Severe action will be taken by the public health authorities because food safety is an important aspect,” sources told the ‘LotusTimes’ news website in Madurai today- on August 27th 2022.
