MADURAI: Students and staff of Lady Doak College (LDC) in Madurai had celebrated the 76th Independence Day on August 15th 2022 in a grand manner. Besides saluting the national flag and reiterating their devotion to the nation, they also took the initiative for a great public cause- Drive Against Drugs.
Dr.Geetha Kanagaraj, Associate Professor of PG and Research Centre of English, LDC, hoisted the national flag and addressed the students and faculty. She told the youngsters that along with freedom comes responsibility. Dr.Christianna Singh, Principal and Secretary of the college, welcomed the gathering. Prayer song rendition was done by CFM choir followed by prayer led by Chaplain Dr.Jessie Ranjitha Jebaselvi, a press release from the college, has informed.
Students performed Bharathanatyam, folk dance and pyramid formation as a part of the I-Day celebrations Ms.Aahila, president of Student Cabinet of Lady Doak College, proposed a vote of thanks. The event was organized by the Deans of Student Affairs- Dr.J.Chitra and Dr.T.Mownasundari along with assistant Deans of student affairs- Dr.J.S.Jemima Jeyapriya and Ms.C.Esther Elizabeth Grace.
DRIVE AGAINST DRUGS:
Also, 515 student volunteers of NCC, NSS and physical education athletes took part in ‘Tricolour’ bike rally and drive against drugs walkathon. The rally was flagged off by LDC Principal and Secretary Dr.Christianna Singh and students carried placards saying ‘No to Drugs’. The Part V coordinators Dr.Anitha Selvaraj and Dr.Sujatha K had coordinated the event. This rally was organized with the support of Madurai city police commissioner while Tallakulam police personnel escorted the ‘Drive Against Drugs’ rally.
