Gandhi Museum in Madurai celebrates and vibrates with patriotic fervour for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

MADURAI: The 75th anniversary of Indian independence was celebrated in Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai with zeal and patriotic fervour on August 15th 2022 making it a special occasion for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. Madurai District Collector Dr.S.Aneesh Sekhar and Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Simranjeet Singh Kahlon had garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the museum premises and paid tributes.

Mr.N.Ramalingam, executive committee member of the museum, had hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering in the presence of Mr.K.R.Nanda Rao, secretary of Gandhi Memorial Museum, who had presided over the independence day celebration event here today. Mrs.Poornima Venkatesan, Correspondent, Sitalakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School at Tirunagar in Madurai, Mr.Murali Krishna, special invitee of Gandhi Memorial Museum, Dr.R.Devadoss, Museum Research Officer, had paid respects and tributes to the Father of the Nation. Students of Sitalakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School, had performed a cultural program for the 76th independence day celebration.

Museum treasurer advocate Mr.M.Senthilkumar and advocate Mr.Gandhi had inaugurated the quiz competition on Gandhian Thought in which school and college students participated. Justice P.N.Prakash, Judge, Madras High Court Madurai Bench, visited the museum and seen all the exhibits in Gandhi Memorial Museum.
