MADURAI: The Agrofood Chamber of Commerce and Industry has today welcomed Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin’s Dubai visit and the discussions he had with UAE Ministers for improving ties between MSMEs in the UAE and Tamil Nadu.
“We are extremely happy with our CM’s discussions on attracting investments to the State, and visionary statement that investments would be invited in other than Chennai for equitable and balanced growth of industries in Tamil Nadu. It is a futuristic thinking that the discussions focused on improving the ties between MSMEs in the UAE and Tamil Nadu taking advantage of the prevailing global situation. It is a shot in the arm for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises sector to go for joint ventures with their counterparts in UAE. Mr.Stalin’s Dubai visit and discussions he had with UAE Ministers will be a game changer for southern districts,” Mr.S.Rethinavelu, president, Agrofood Chamber, has said in a press release issued from Madurai on March 26th 2022.
Thanking the Chief Minister for giving importance to food processing industries, logistics and major infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu, he hoped that the various proactive announcements made for agriculture and agrofood industries in the agriculture budgets last year and this year would enthuse the UAE investors to decide Tamil Nadu as their destination for investments.

Mr.Rethinavelu has urged that the UAE investors should be motivated to have their units in the Madurai-Thoothukudi Industrial Corridor and he also mooted that an investors meet should be held in Madurai for the UAE Ministers during their visit in order to promote industrialization in southern Tamil Nadu which is lagging behind in industrial growth compared to northern and western districts.
The Agrofood Chamber president has also requested the Chief Minister to impress upon the Civil Aviation Ministry to upgrade Madurai airport as an international airport enabling UAE airlines to have direct flights to Madurai for business and cargo connectivity.
