MADURAI: The Covid-19 vaccination of children from 12 to 14 years age began in Madurai with a special vaccination camp conducted by the Madurai Corporation here today. On 16th March 2022, Madurai Mayor Indirani Ponvasanth inaugurated the vaccination camp at Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School in Shenoy Nagar here in the presence of Madurai Corporation Commissioner Dr.K.P.Karthikeyan and Deputy Mayor Mr.T.Nagarajan and senior officials.
According to a press release received from the corporation here today, a total of 49,555 children in Madurai Corporation area who are between 12 to 14 years age will be vaccinated in this special vaccination drive against Covid-19. The children are being administered Corbevax vaccine. The Mayor had formally launched the vaccination here today morning with children between 12 to 14 years getting the first dose. The second dose will be given after 28 days.
The press release of Madurai Corporation also informed that COVID vaccination for children of 15 to 18 years age was undertaken through vaccination drive and the same was done for those above 60 years plus.
