MADURAI: The District Collector of Madurai district Dr.S.Aneesh Sekhar on Wednesday took a cycle to reach his office as a part of the movement to create larger public awareness for promoting sustainable model of transport, Green Madurai and to popularize use of public transport.
From his camp office in Madurai DRO Colony, the district collector cycled to the collectorate and his bicycle passed through along with the public on the important road that leads from collector’s camp office to the collectorate. He sent out an important public message on 9th March 2022 after reaching the collectorate.
“An awareness is being created to use public transport. The government employees and public are being encouraged to use public transport. So, on all Wednesdays, if the people of Madurai go to office either by cycle to by public transport, buses etc, it will be a green journey and a green Madurai. Pollution control and environment protection will become possible. With this in mind, I came to my office on cycle,” Dr.Aneesh Sekhar told reporters after reaching the district collectorate on Wednesday morning.
