MADURAI: “The number of votes garnered by the BJP in Madurai is very encouraging for us and the next Madurai MP will be from BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections”, BJP Madurai urban district president Dr.P.Saravanan has exuded confidence.

“We have made a good beginning with the winning of one ward councillor in the urban local body elections of Madurai Corporation. This is a big victory for the party from Ward 86 in Madurai. In nine wards, BJP is in second place and in 37 wards our party is in third position. Our vote share had gone up to 9 per cent. Every party worker will be focused for the 2024 parliament elections and the next MP of Madurai will be a BJP candidate,” Dr.Saravanan said today at a press conference in Madurai on 24th February 2022. He spoke to reporters in the presence of BJP winning candidate Mrs.Bhooma and several party functionaries.

Stating that the BJP had made a firm footing in Tamil Nadu’s electoral map with its performance in urban local body elections, the BJP Madurai city president has said that this victory had proven several people wrong and cleared all the doubts of those who have been saying that the BJP can never make inroads into Tamil Nadu. “Our vote share in Madurai has increased to such an extent that AIADMK’s winning chance was affected in 13 wards. People of Madurai are slowly moving towards the BJP,” he added.

He said that the election campaign direction given by BJP State president Mr.K.Annamalai had a significant impact and that had resulted in the party’s good performance in urban local body elections. “We had contested separately and proved our strength. There were lot of election irregularities committed by the ruling DMK. The voting percentage was less because people are not happy with the DMK government. Between 5 pm and 6 pm on the voting day, bogus votes were polled by the ruling party people, CCTVs were stopped and in some cases people were threatened not to come out for voting,” Dr.Saravanam had alleged.

The next work for the BJP cadres in Madurai will be to go to people in all the 100 wards of Madurai Corporation and explain about the welfare and development schemes of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre. Dr.Saravanan had also asked the DMK government in Tamil Nadu to stop misleading the students on the issue of NEET and instead create facilities for coaching in schools to prepare them for the medical entrance test.
