MADURAI: S.V.Maruthu Bagavathi of Senthamil College in Madurai has bagged the first prize in essay competition conducted by the Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) to commemorate the International Mother Language Day 2022.
A cash prize of Rs.25,000 and a certificate was given to Mr.Maruthu Bagavathi at a function held in Chennai on 22nd February 2022. The CICT is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education of Government of India and it is situated at Taramani in Chennai. He is studying second year B.Litt Tamil.
For this year’s International Mother Language Day, competitions were conducted in three categories- essay writing, poetry and drawing. In this competition, the Senthamil College student won the first prize in essay writing. CICT Director R.Chandrasekaran and Prof.Kurinji Venthan had felicitated him for winning the prize.
Dr.K.Venuka, Principal, Senthamil College and Dr.G.Subbulakshmi, Vice-Principal, said today that they are happy that a student from Senthamil College from Madurai had won first prize in this CICT conducted competitions.
