MADURAI: The Congress party will contest in nine wards in Madurai Corporation in the urban local body polls to be held on 19th February 2022.
The seat-sharing talks were held between the DMK and the leaders of Indian National Congress here today where it was agreed upon that the Congress will contest in nine wards out of the total 100 wards in Madurai Corporation. Both the parties held discussion here today- on 31st January 2022- to decide on the number of wards to be contested by the Congress party.
The DMK side was represented by its senior leaders including Ministers Mr.P.Moorthy and Mr.P.T.R.Palanivel Thiagarajan while the Congress Party team included senior Congress leader and disciplinary committee head Mr.K.R.Ramasamy, Madurai district Congress Committee president Mr.V.Karthikeyan and others.
The wards in Madurai Corporation where the Congress party will contest would be decided by tonight, sources said.
