Child protection awareness week observed; Child help desks at railway stations with toll free number 1098

MADURAI: Child Protection Awareness Week is being observed from 14th November 2021 Sunday by the railways to create public awareness about child protection. In this connection, an event was organised by the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here today and it was inaugurated by Divisional Railway Manager Mr.Padmanabhan Anand who also signed on the awareness signature campaign board for child protection.

A press release received from the Southern Railway’s Madurai Division here today had informed that child help desks are functioning at Madurai, Tuticorin and Rameswaram. There are child help desks functioning at 143 railway stations of Indian Railways. These help desks will rescue children who leave their homes, missing children and abducted children. A Toll Free number 1098 is also working for this purpose, the press release added. On 14th November 2021, the awareness event was held in Madurai with participation of children and railway employees. Station Director and Divisional Commercial Manager Mr.D.L.Ganesh, Child Help Desk coordinator Anita, deputy station managers Mr.Prabhakar and Mr.Vijay were among those present at the child protection awareness week event in Madurai on 14th November 2021.
