MADURAI: A special Ramayana themed train called ‘Shri Ramayana Yatra’ train will be starting from Madurai on 16th November 2021 (Tuesday) thanks to the tourism focused initiative by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This ‘Ramayana Yatra’ special train for 14 days will cover prominent and important places that are linked to the Ramayana and Lord Ram. (Tickets can be booked on IRCTC website www.irctctourism.com)

Leaving Madurai on November 16th 2021, the Ramayana Yatra tourism special train will pass through Dindigul, Tiruchi, Kumbakonam, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Chennai Egmore after which the train runs through covering Hampi, Nashik, Chithrakoot, Kasi, Gaya, Sithamarhi, Nepal Janakpuri- Sita’s birthplace, Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi, Sringaverpur and Allahabad thereby giving the tourists an opportunity to have a darshan of important places connected the epic Ramayana.

Food, accommodation, train fare and local road transfers for the ‘Ramayana Yatra’ train passenger tourists will be taken care of by the IRCTC and the 14-day tour costs Rs.14,490 per person. All the COVID-19 safety rules and prevention norms as given by the Central and State governments will be followed during this tour. Only those who took both the doses of COVID vaccine will be eligible to travel on this exclusive tour train. Central and State government employees can utilize their LTC facility for this train, according to a press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here on 30th September 2021.
