MADURAI: The ancient ‘Sangam era’, Sangam period of Tamil Nadu’s ancient history and civilization and the salient features of ‘Sangam Age’ will be showcased as ‘SANGA POONGA’ (park) for posterity in Madurai city along both sides of the Vaigai River in Madurai city under the Smart City project, Madurai Lok Sabha MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan has said here on Saturday. On 11th September 2021, the Madurai MP along with Corporation Commissioner Dr.K.P.Karthikeyan and senior corporation officials had inspected the works going on along the Vaigai River area in Madurai.
REVIEW MEETING ON 17th SEPTEMBER:
Mr.Su.Venkatesan has announced that that the two-lane road coming up on either side of the Vaigai river bank in the city will adequately highlight the greatness of ancient ‘Sangam Age’ period and Sangam literature era in the parks which are being set up in the Smart City plan for Vaigai river area development in Madurai city. The Smart City plan for this Vaigai river path includes paintings, history sketches, walking facility and gym exercise for the public, cycling, pucca drainage facility, sewerage treatment etc in order to a big facelift to the Vaigai river stretch in the ancient temple city of Madurai.
Madurai Corporation City Engineer in-charge Mrs.Suganthi, EE Mr.Arasu, PRO Mr.Maheswaran and senior corporation officials were present during the inspection of Smart City project works for Vaigai. The MP had also informed that a comprehensive review meeting of Madurai Smart City Project works in progress being undertaken across the city will be conducted on 17th September 2021.
