MADURAI: Corona vaccination for persons in the 18 to 44 years age group is going on at various places in Madurai city through special camps being conducted by the Madurai Corporation. On 25th May 2021, Commercial Taxes Minister Mr.P.Moorthy visited the Corporation headquarters building here ‘Anna Maaligai’ where COVID vaccine is being administered to the 18+ age group.
Corona vaccination camps have been arranged in Madurai city as per instructions of the Tamil Nadu State government to vaccinate 18 to 44 years age group people. In the first round, the Madurai Corporation is vaccinating frontline workers / field staff- NGO volunteers, drivers, vendors. COVID vaccination special camps are organized at urban primary health centres in K.Pudur, Ansari Nagar, Munichalai and Thideer Nagar besides the Madurai Corporation main building ‘Anna Maaligai’.
The corporation health teams are also covering Madurai Maattuthavani fruit market, SIDCO Industrial Estate, East Veli Street, Pudur and Bypass Road bus stand. COVID-19 vaccination is being now being given to priority groups and gradually all those in the 18 years to 44 years age group will be covered in Madurai.
Among those who were present during Minister Moorthy’s inspection here today include Madurai district Collector Mr.Aneesh Sekhar, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan and senior officials from corporation.
