MADURAI: The Railway Board of Government of India has authorized today all zonal railways in the country to impose fine upto Rs.500 for persons / passengers not wearing face mask / cover in railway premises and in trains because of the COVID situation right now. The important information of imposition of fine for not wearing masks in railway premises was given through a press statement from the Southern Railway Madurai Division PRO desk here today- on 17th April 2021- Saturday.
SOUTHERN RAILWAY APPEAL:
The Southern Railway has made an appeal today to all passengers to follow COVID appropriate behaviour in railway premises and trains and cooperate to contain the spread of resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Social distancing, wearing of face mask, regular washing of hands in railway premises and aboard the train must be followed as a part of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for train passengers during travel.
IMMEDIATE ACTION:
According to the press release received in Madurai today, the Madurai Division of Southern Railway has informed that all COVID-19 control guidelines will be followed and a maximum fine of Rs.500 shall be collected from passengers who are found to be not wearing masks in railway premises and trains. Officials authorized to collect the fines are station master / station manager, ticket collector, RPF officials and any other official that may be subsequently authorized by the railway administration, the press release from Southern Railway had informed here today.
