MADURAI: Congress Party leaders and cadres in Madurai have staged a protest-demonstration here today- on 20th February 2021- against the steep hike in the rates of petrol and disel prices, and in support of protecting the farmers from the farm laws passed by the Modi BJP government at the Centre.
CONGRESS CADRES DETAINED BY MADURAI POLICE:
Condemning the increase of fuel prices and also calling for total support for farmers’ demand of repealing the Modi government’s farm laws, the Congress party functionaries of Madurai Congress Committee had attempted for a strong protest in Madurai city. They had planned to hold a public demonstration at around 3pm today- on 20th February 2021 (Saturday), with a march ‘Padayathra’ from Periyar Bus Stand-Kattabomman statue to the Indira Gandhi statue nearby. Mr.V.Karthikeyan, district president, Madurai Congress Committee president and his team of office-bearers here along with many district and State level Congress party office-bearers / cadres took part in the agitation in Madurai today.
Among those who raised their voice by taking part in the Congress party’s petrol hike protest and farmers’ support meeting include State general council executive council members Rajahasan, Manimaran, Syed Babu…….along with others Murugan, advocates Bismillah Khan, Suba Venkat, Venkatraman and other Congress Party functionaries ShaNawaz, Ravichandran, Malar Pandian besides hundreds of party cadres from various places in Madurai.
