MADURAI: The Dr.T.P.M. Library of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) in Madurai has initiated the digitization work for rare books in Tamil and English literature published before 60 years ago, taken from 3 lakhs books which are available in Madurai Kamaraj University Library with the support of Directorate of Public Libraries, Tamil Nadu.
This digitization work covers rare Tamil and English literature books, selected distance education lessons, Madurai Kamaraj University publications and MKU palm leaves. The digitized rare books have been uploaded and available in the Madurai Kamaraj University Library web site. These contents can be downloaded by users at free of cost, according to a press release received from MKU here today- on 19th November 2020.
Dr.M.Krishnan, MKU Vice Chancellor, has received the digitized contents from Dr.S.Kamatchi, Librarian and Information Officer, Anna Centenary Library, Chennai on 19th November 2020, along with Dr.V.S.Vasantha, MKU Registrar (i/c) ,Dr.Ramaraja Pandian, Head of the Department of Tamil, Dr.S.Santhana Karthikeyan, Librarian and Information Officer, Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, Mrs.S.Yasotha, District Library Officer, Mr.L.Muthu, District Central Library, Madurai, who were present on this occasion. Dr.B.Suresh MKU’s university librarian, took keen initiative and completed this process.
