MADURAI: The Election Commission of India has issued a press statement on 29th September 2020 that bye-elections will not be conducted for seven Assembly constituencies in four States, including two Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu (Tiruvottiyur and Gudiyattam (SC) since these seven vacancies are located in States where the term of Assembly is getting over in a few months.
So, the Election Commission of India has decided not to announce the conduct of elections at this stage. In other recent vacancies in Parliamentary constituency and Legislative Assembly, the Commission will decide after taking inputs from the States concerned, the press note from Sumit Mukherjee, Sr.Principal Secretary, ECI, New Delhi, said today.
