Madurai Smart City works at full pace, Minister inspects

MADURAI: Tamil Nadu’s Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju has inspected the works going on near the Jhansi Park area in Madurai city on 22nd September 2020. Accompanied by Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan and senior corporation officials, he went to various places in that locality and said that the Smart City works which are meant to improve the civic infrastructure here will be completed soon.

In Jhansi Park area in Madurai city, the Smart City works are being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs.2.45 crores.

Mr.Sellur Raju has said that the objective is to make Madurai as a place that is well known for its ancient heritage, culture etc. “Already Madurai city is a very popular tourist place in India. Around 1.3 crore domestic tourists and three lakh foreign tourists visit the city on an average every year already……We are taking steps to remove all manholes, drainage, sewerage. Meenakshi Temple is a world renowned spot and all steps are being taken to create more civic infrastructure in that area,” the Minister had added.
