MADURAI: Reliable sources in education wing have today said that the Distance Education Department of the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here has started probing into a shock that came from a distance.

It was learnt from sources that 200 students did not write the MKU’s examinations at Tiruvannamalai distance education centre in Tamil Nadu but the answer scripts came for paper valuation. How? This is the hot topic now in the MKU campus here today.

Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ website- www.lotustimes.org- on 17th August 2020 that the MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.M.Krishnan himself was astonished because the exam squad that went to this centre in Tiruvannamalai in February 2020 told varsity authorities that students did not write the exams. (It is said that the exam centre code is 496/498).

“The MKU officials were told that no one wrote the exams at distance education centre in Tiruvannamalai in February 2020. But to the surprise of VC, the answer-sheet bundle came here for paper correction/ valuation from Tiruvannamalai. There is a lot of difference from what the university examination squad has said and what has happened at this centre in Tiruvannmalai. So, the MKU’s Directorate of Distance Education is looking into this matter to find out the truth,” education wing sources said today.

This enquiry into Tiruvannamalai matter assumes significance because the MKU has already ordered for a detailed probe into a couple of Kerala centres recently and the Tamil Nadu Governor is closely following up the issue by asking for a report from the MKU Vice-Chancellor about the alleged irregularities.
