MADURAI: People who are occupying top positionS in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) have now started acting in a swift manner after Tamil Nadu Governor-Chancellor Mr.Banwarilal Purohit’s intervention asking full details about examination-valuation irregularities from the varsity here.
In the last three days, and particularly on 17th August 2020- there was a huge buzz in the campus as sources said that the university administration is preparing for a full enquiry to probe into the irregularities that came from a couple of MKU distance education study centres. (allegations in crores of rupees). The Governor wanted full report.
“If required the MKU Examination Disciplinary and Student Welfare Committee will call even the Controller of Examinations Mr.Ravi for eqnuiry. Information and preliminary evidence was gathered and it will continue. The first meeting of enquiry committee is on 21st August 2020. Facts will be put before people,” sources in the MKU said on 17th August 2020.
Some MKU senior authorities with whom ‘Lotus Times’ spoke today are saying in a manner that they came to know about distance education examination irregularities revaluation- paper correction only now and they were not aware of any malpractices. “So, the university needed a Governor-Chancellor to alert them about irregularities. What are university officials doing? Things will come out after 21st August and the Governor will not spare,” an official said today.
The MKU Exam Disciplinary Committee includes Mr.Lakshmipathy, Mr.Dheenadayalan, Shakeela, Meshack, Pari Parameswaran, MKU Registrar and MKU Vice-Chancellor.
University staff are requesting the Tamil Nadu Governor-Chancellor to give instructions to the MKU authorities that the Controller of Examinations Mr.O.Ravi should not be a part of that enquiry proceedings.
“He must be called for questioning but he should not be in that enquity process. There must be transparency and honesty because this is a Governor-ordered panel in MKU and the duty is to bring out the truth of what happened in conduct of exams,” an officer said here today in the interest of thousands of students.
