MADURAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu is going to suffer a huge setback if it goes ahead with naming Devendra community as ‘Devendra Kula Vellalar’.
Representatives of Vellalar caste in Tamil Nadu had today openly declared that they are ready to move away from the BJP if the State leaders including Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan from Madurai are doing injustice to them.
“We have strong objections on the name Devendra Kula Vellalar. The BJP can give any name to them…..but it should not have Vellalar in it. We are Vellalar caste in Tamil Nadu and BJP should not hurt us just to please the Devendra Kula community people. Our protests are going to intensify very soon and I can tell that a minimum of two lakh people from Vellalar community who are now in the BJP will quit the party if the national leadership takes a political decision on this issue by listening to Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and his group who are giving wrong information to PMO,” Mr.S.P.Murugesan from Madurai who is a leader of Tamizhaga Velalar and Vellalar Federation, told “Lotus Times” today.
