MADURAI: The Devendra Kula Vellalar issue taken up by some BJP leaders from Madurai appears to boomerang as strong opposition is building up from Vellalar community people from various districts in Tamil Nadu on the party’s proposal to go with Devendrars issue of integrating and renaming them. The inclusion of Vellalar in that name is being severely objected and criticized.
Allegations are coming that BJP leader from Madurai Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and his group including Mr.Thangaraj (DVK Arakattalai) had misled the Prime Minister’s Office, the national BJP leadership, the party’s national headquarters, Home Minister Mr.Amit Shah and others on the issue of Devendra Kula Vellalar.
“Two lakh people who are supporting the BJP in Tamil Nadu will openly come out very soon and oppose BJP Srinivasan’s wrong move from Madurai … If this is not changed, our support to the BJP will be withdrawn because the BJP is committing a blunder on the Devendra Kula Vellalar issue…..PM Modi was misled by some BJP leaders and only because of that Modiji spoke about that in his Madurai public meeting on 27th January 2019. We are sure that Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan has misled the BJP national leaders and PMO on this. The details will be out very soon,” a few leaders in Tamil Nadu told ‘Lotus Times’ news website on 14th July 2020.
