Sathankulam case: CBI takes five accused into its custody (Video)

MADURAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today (14th July 2020) taken into its custody the five accused in Sathankulam custodial deaths case. 

It had sought custody of 5 accused- police inspector Sridhar, sub-inspector Raghu Ganesh, Balakrishnan, head constable Murugan and constable Muthuraja by filing an application before the Madurai Chief Judicial Magistrate court here on Monday.

Madurai Chief Judicial Magistrate Hemanth Kumar allowed the CBI to take the five accused into its custody for three days. They will again have to be produced in the court on 16th July at 5,30 pm.

The court allowed Sridhar and Raghu Ganesh to meet their lawyers for one hour every day while in custody. Following the court permission given on 14th July 2020, the CBI team led by ADSP Vijaykumar Shukla is taking them into its custody, and before that the five accused were taken for medical checkup at Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here.
The five accused have been lodged in Madurai Central Prison
