CHENNAI: The birth centenary of prominent leader of Dravidian movement ‘Navalar’ V.R.Nedunchezhian is being celebrated on 11th July 2020. DMK president Mr.M.K.Stalin had already announced that his party will pay glorious tributes to this great orator leader, acting CM and former Minister who worked in several cabinets in Tamil Nadu.
At this juncture, ‘Lotus Times’ news website would like to recall the meeting of Shastry V Mallady with ‘Navalar’ Nedunchezhiyan as a Vivekananda College student at his Greenways Road residence in Chennai on 30th December 1988. What started with an autograph from him that day led to my interest to take part in his election campaign taking place that time as he was independent candidate from Mylapore Assembly constituency.
From 30th December 1988, for the next few weeks, myself and my college friends used to be at his residence early in the morning, to go along with him for campaign covering various places in Mylapore constituency till afternoon. The warmth and affection with which he and Mrs.Visalakshi Nedunchezhiyan used to receive me and my college friends is still fresh in my memory.
