MADURAI: In an important development with regard to Corona tests done for patients, the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project of Government of Tamil Nadu has temporarily debarred four private labs in Coimbatore from doing RT-PCR testing for Corona patients.
Instructions were given by the Tamil Nadu Government Health Secretary to concerned authorities on 3rd July 2020 and the four private labs are debarred based on a preliminary report received from the United India Insurance Co.Ltd, Chennai, with details of Corona tests done for CMCHIS and Non-CMCHIS beneficiaries.
The four private labs in Coimbatore which are temporarily debarred from doing RT-PCR testing for CMCHIS beneficiaries and Non-CMCHIS beneficiaries throughout the State are: 1. Orbito-Asia Laboratory 2. Bioline Laboratory 3. Microbiology Laboratory 4. Krishna Laboratory.
REASONS FOR DEBARRING THEM:
Mr.Ajay Yadav IAS, Project Director, Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project, has cited the reasons for temporarily debarring the four private labs in Coimbatore from doing Corona tests. He has also asked the United India Insurance Company not to release any payment till enquiry is completed.
“On perusal of the report received from the United India Insurance Company, the number of tested samples increased rapidly in the said four private labs in Coimbatore within short span of period and this has to be examined and enquired by Enquiry Committee which has been formed under instructions of the Principal Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Chennai. Based on instructions given on 3rd July 2020, the four labs are temporarily debarred from doing RT-PCR testing,” Mr.Ajay Yadav IAS has said in his letter dated 3rd July 2020.
The Tamil Nadu State government has allowed the United India Insurance Company testing coverage similar to CMCHIS also for Non-CMCHIS beneficiaries referred by public health authorities in empanelled private labs and hospitals.
The payment breakup of United India Insurance to private labs for doing Corona tests to affected persons was studied and a decision was taken after seeing the payment details.
