MADURAI: Overflowing underground drainage and sewage is getting mixed into Vaigai River in Madurai at Obula Padithurai here. The sewage flow into the river water was seen on 1st July 2020 as the drainage pipeline was overflowing and sewage getting mixed in Vaigai.
Local residents in Obula Padithurai and Anna Nagar area in Madurai have urged the Madurai Corporation authorities to take immediate action and rectify the defects in drainage system pipeline. IsmailPuram fourth and fifth streets need immediate attention to stop the sewage leak mixed into Vaigai river. The drainage is flowing on the roads in Obula Padithurai area.
According to local residents, the problem needs a permanent solution because the minor repairs being done by the corporation are of no use.
