MADURAI: Continuing with its Corona control steps, the Madurai Corporation has said that all private gyms including those that are there in flats and apartments in Madurai city must remain locked and closed till further orders.
Corporation sources said today- 11th June 2020- that the Corporation took this decision based on the Corona prevention guidelines given for disaster management by the National Disaster Management Authority.
“Either the police or disaster management teams can seal the gyms if they are opened. It is applicable for all private gyms, those in flats and apartments because of COVID prevention steps in Madurai Corporation. If complaints are received, the inspection team will visit the premises and put the gym under seal,” a corporation official said here today.
Since the gyms bring people at close distance, the Madurai Corporation took this decision for ensuring social distancing and to prevent coronavirus spread in Madurai city. “Based on information, we can inspect any place at any time,” an official in Madurai Corporation said today.
