MADURAI: Coming as a huge relief from the two-month Corona lockdown, Madurai has seen commencing of trains and buses from today- 1st June 2020- after relaxations given by the State and Central governments.
Today, State government buses were on roads in Madurai Division as TNSTC bus services began from Madurai to Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts. Sources said that 500 buses were pressed into service in Madurai region.
TNSTC senior official Mr.Murugesan has said today that all drivers and conductors must wear gloves-face masks while disinfectants should be sprayed in buses. Only 26 passengers should be there in 40-seater buses.
TRAINS FROM MADURAI:
Similarly, train services too resumed in a phased manner from Madurai today with the first train from Madurai to Villupuram starting at 7 am. Various places are now getting connected through trains again after the Corona lockdown period. All the second class / general coaches and compartments in trains are being closely tracked for safety- prevention measures, sources added.
