MADURAI: A spot fine of Rs.100 each was imposed on 238 persons in Madurai city today- 23rd May 2020- for not wearing a face mask. The Madurai Corporation is strictly implementing the face mask rule for preventing the spread of Coronavirus infection.
A press release from Madurai Corporation today informed that Rs.23,800 was collected as fine today.
Mr.S.Visakan, Madurai Corporation Commissioner, has said that wearing of face mask in public places and offices is compulsory. In the last three days, the corporation has fined 927 persons. Assistant Commissioners, sanitary inspectors and health inspectors are keeping a close watch in this regard.
