MADURAI: Implementing a tough measure to make wearing of facemask compulsory in Madurai city, the Corporation has announced that it will come into effect from 20th May 2020.
Accordingly, the Madurai Corporation authorities have fined 400 persons in the city today- 20th May 2020- for not wearing masks and for coming to public places without mask, according to a press release from the corporation here today.
A fine amount of Rs.100 was collected from each person and a total of Rs.40,600 was collected in the city today.
Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had announced yesterday that face masks are compulsory. While fine was collected from 35 persons in Zone-1, the inspecting teams had fined 115 persons in Zone-2.
In Zone-3, totally 37 persons were fined Rs.100 each and in Zone-4, the corporation had fined 219 persons, the press release informed today.
