MADURAI: A large number of people have suddenly came out in large numbers at Avaniapuram in Madurai today to check their post office savings accounts following rumours that relief amount of Rs.2,000 was credited to their accounts by the government as Corona lockdown relief measure.
On 16th May 2020, a rumour was spread in Avaniapuram area that the government is crediting the amount in two instalments to their savings accounts. Believing this, people made a beeline to the post office there. However, it was found to be wrong information spread by some people.
For sometime, social distancing had gone for a toss in Avaniapuram today since it took time for the local people to send them away.
