FIVE FISH SHOPS SEALED

MADURAI: Corporation officials have today sealed and cancelled licenses of five fish shops in Madurai city for failing to regulate crowds and not followed social distancing rules.

The shops were functioning at a temporary wholesale fish market in Dr.MGR Bus Stand in Maattuthavani here. Besides cancelling their license, corporation authorities also sealed their actual shops at Karimedu fish market in the city.

On 13th May 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan along with senior officials had carried out a sudden inspection at wholesale vegetable and fruit markets at Maatuthavani and Paravai and also fruit shops in De Nobili School ground here, according to a press release from the Corporation today, 

In order to prevent crowding and to ensure social distancing, the wholesale vegetable and fruit markets were shifted temporarily to bus stands, school and college playgrounds. The wholesale fish market at Karimedu in the city was also moved out.

The Corporation Commissioner inspected wholesale onion and potato shops in Paravai here. At Maattuthavani bus stand, he inspected the fruit market and fish market today. Among the officials present during the inspection were Corporation Assistant Commissioner Mr.Jayaram Raja, Mr.Sekar, Mr.Arockiya Xavier, Mr.Premkumar and Mr.Chithravel.
