MADURAI: Representatives of saloons and hairdressers have today (11th May 2020) sought permission from the authorities to open their shops and exempt them from lockdown restrictions in Tamil Nadu.
The list announced by Tamil Nadu government announcing easing of lockdown curbs for 34 types of shops from 7th May did not include saloons. From the beginning of Corona lockdown and Section 144 implementation, the saloon shops have remained closed.
Nearly 5,000 saloons in Madurai district are closed now since they are not permitted to open. So, the Madurai District Saloons and Hairdressers Association’s representatives have made a representation to Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi K.Palanisami seeking permission for saloons to function normally daily.
They gave a representation to Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay today seeking his intervention and permission for saloons. The lockdown will be in force till 17th May. They have assured that all safety precautions will be taken for social distancing and other norms announced for prevention of Coronavirus spread.
