400-bed quarantine facility at Madurai Kamaraj University

MADURAI: A 400-bed quarantine facility is coming up inside the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) campus here. It will be fully ready for use from coming Monday (11th May 2020).

This quarantine camp facility will be used to keep the persons returning from other States and other countries under isolation as a preventive measure in the wake of Corona prevention. The MKU quarantine set up is not for patients and it is only for putting the returnees separately, sources said.  

Mr.S.Pari Parameswaran, Director (Hostels) and MKU Syndicate Member, told ‘Lotus Times‘ news website today- on 9th May 2020- has said that Men’s hostels and other buildings in the MKU campus are being arranged in such a manner that they can be used for quarantining.  

Apart from all Men’s hostels, the other buildings in MKU where isolation – quarantine facility is coming up include Faculty Guest House, Biological Sciences guest house, National Networking Resource Centre and Human Resource Development Centre.

“This is only for quarantine purpose. Persons coming from other States and countries will be quarantined. Based on the guidelines of District Collector, Revenue officials, Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, we are working now. It can be used from Monday,” Mr.Pari Parameswaran said.
