MADURAI: Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju has today said that there are 17 areas including Sellur which are earmarked as Corona containment zones in Madurai city because of positive cases.
“All steps are being taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection and there are 17 containment areas in Madurai. The areas are totally restricted for entry and exit,” he said.
The Minister had carried out an inspection in Sellur area today- 8th May 2020- along with Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan and others.
He informed that Madurai district had 111 Corona positive cases till now. In Madurai, 42 are undergoing treatment now while 25 were discharged and they returned home. There were two deaths in Madurai district.
Spraying of disinfectants is taking place in all wards and containment zones. Vitamin tablets, Zinc tablets and ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ are being distributed to households in containment areas.
Corporation Assistant Commissioner Mr.Sekar and ACHO Dr.Vinodh Raja were among those present during the inspection at Sellur here today.
