MADURAI: After 44-day closure due to Coronavirus total lockdown, the TASMAC liquor shops were opened bang on time at 10 am in Tamil Nadu today- on 7th May 2020- as per the State government’s announcement.
After having a tough time for more than 40 days, liquor lovers made a beeline to buy their bottle by standing in a barricaded lines much before the shops were open in Madurai city this morning. The scene at TASMAC shop in Solai Alagupuram near Jaihindpuram in Madurai says it all.
While police were making announcements in mike to follow social distancing, those in the queue line were carrying the ‘Aadhaar’ card and address proof as per High Court instructions.
Opening of TASMAC liquor shops in Tamil Nadu got national attention since all eyes were on the High Court order yesterday evening. Timing was fixed from 10 am to 5 pm and age group with specific timings was fixed for TASMAC customers by the High Court.
