MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has expressed that increasing Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees in private business establishments is a very tough order since there was no business at all because of total Corona lockdown.
An appeal was made to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi K.Palanisami to withdraw the order dated 1st April 2020 to give DA hike for employees and workers.
Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, president, Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, has written a letter to the Chief Minister on 6th May 2020 urging him to revoke the DA order.
“Many companies struggled to give salaries for the month of April to its employees since business units were totally closed due to the Corona lockdown. And some have not even given salaries at all. So, keeping the financial hardships faced by private establishments and companies, we request the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to understand our difficulty. The Central government had already announced freezing of DA for its employees. Tamil Nadu government also must follow that for companies and hospitals,” Mr.Jeyapragasam has said in his letter to CM.
