Madurai Collector’s midnight inspection closes 10 shops

MADURAI: License of 10 vegetable shops at Dr.MGR Bus Stand in Mattuthavani in Madurai city was cancelled for three months during a sudden midnight inspection by top officials here on 3rd May 2020 night. 

The permission for these 10 shops was cancelled for not following the important social distancing rule of Coronavirus lockdown. Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay along with Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, Assistant Police Commissioner Lilly Grace and senior officials had gone on an inspection at various places in Madurai last night.

He went to the wholesale temporary vegetable market at MGR Busstand in Mattuthavani where it was found that 10 shops did not follow social distancing.

According to a Corporation press release, the district collector had immediately ordered for cancelling the license/permission of 10 wholesale vegetable shops and also said that it will not be renewed for three months. The top level team also inspected vegetable shops at Amma Thidal at Ring Road area here.

Senior officials including City Engineer Mr.S.Arasu and Mr.Premkumar, Mr.Rengarajan, Jayaram Raja and PRO Mr.Chithravel were among those present during the inspection last night.
