Agarwal Samaj contributes Rs.32 lakh to CM Relief Fund

CHENNAI: Several voluntary organisations, philanthropists, donors and volunteers have turned saviours and good Samaritans during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

Chennai-based Shree Agarwal Samaj (Madras) is one among those service bodies that showed its social responsibility to help the stranded, underprivileged people. Besides helping the people with food essentials, it had made a contribution of Rs.32 lakhs to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund towards COVID control and relief measures.

It has distributed more than 12,000 rice / grocery kits costing nearly Rs.72 lakhs to needy families through district collectors, tahsildhars, volunteers and NGOs, according to a press release on 1st May 2020.

Rice and grocery kits were distributed at various places in Chennai including Red Hills, Tondiarpet, Vyasarpadi, Ambattur, Ponneri, Avadi, Madhavaram, Thiruthani and also in villages in Chengalpet and Tiruvallur districts through Mr.A.John Louis, Chengalpet District Collector and Mrs.Mageswari Ravikumar, Tiiruvallur District Collector.

Shree Agarwal Samaj families number about 1,200 in Chennai and these families are working in healthcare, education etc for underprivileged and meritorious students under the auspices of Shree Agarwal Samaj, the press release added.
