MADURAI: The eight containment zones in Madurai are being closely monitored by Corporation teams to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection. These areas have already been announced as No Entry-No Exit zones and residents were instructed to stay in their homes. Quarantine norms are implemented.
On 1st May 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan inspected the containment areas where tough restrictions are in place in the wake of Corona positive cases confirmed there. The eight areas are Vandiyur Sourashtrapuram, Yagappa Nagar, Sellur Manavalan Nagar, Aanaiyur SVP Nagar, Koodal Nagar, Karisalkulam, Vilangudi and Sellur Bose Street, according to a press release here today.
The Corporation took steps to prevent entry of people by barricading and closing down the entry points on streets in those localities for one kilometre distance. Essential needs such as vegetables, groceries, medicines etc are being provided through door delivery since the residents were asked not to come out till things become normal.
A Help Desk was created by the Corporation for the urgent needs of people in containment zones. Disinfectants are being sprayed through drone, hand machines and boom spray unit. The Madurai Corporation is also supplying Siddha herbal concoction ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ to the people of these eight restricted areas besides giving vitamin-zinc tablets to boost immunity-resistance power.
Among those who were present along with Madurai Corporation Commissioner during today’s inspection include senior corporation officials Mr.Arasu, Ms.Suganthi, Mr.Premkumar, Mr.Arogiya Xavier, PRO Mr.Chithravel and others.
