MADURAI: The Madurai Chemists and Druggists Association has assured that all steps have been taken to ensure that sufficient stocks of medicines are available in medical shops through proper supplies in Madurai district and people need not panic during this four-day total lock down and also till it is completely lifted.

“Our association thanks the State government and district administration for giving permission to medical shops to keep open during the 100 per cent total closure days and for the past 33 days of total lockdown due to Corona crisis. We thank the authorities for giving exemption to pharmacies,” association president Mr.Ganesan and association secretary Mr.Saravanan told reporters here on 26th April 2020.

Thanking the authorities, police and Drug Control officials, the Madurai Chemists and Druggists Association had reiterated that all the 1,850 retail medical shops and 250 wholesale stockists in Madurai district will function with full sense of service during the lockdown period.

“The difficulty faced by medical sales personnel and shop employees with regard to their movement -commuting was taken up with the Madurai District Collector and the police checking issue was also taken to his attention. We were assured that showing of identity card is enough and that the police will not stop them. We thank the city police commissioner and district Superintendent of Police for their immediate response to our plea.

Medicines will be available in medical shops without any problem,” Mr.Saravanan and Mr.Ganesan had assured.
