MADURAI: Three more areas in Madurai city have been cordoned off and completely closed by the Corporation authorities today to prevent people coming out of their homes in the wake of Corona positive affected cases.
The areas are Madhichiyam, Narimedu and Kuppupillai Thoppu Street (near South Veli Street Crime Range).
On 16th April 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan along with senior civic officials had inspected the areas where barricading was done in order to restrict entry and exit of people / vehicles. Already, some localities in Mehaboobpalayam and Anaiyur (SVP Nagar) were sealed and declared as No Entry areas and there is surveillance for one kilometre.
Residents of sealed areas and streets have been asked to stay home. Essential food items-vegetables and medicines will be home delivered. Particulars of shops in that area, address and phone numbers were given in each home.
Disinfectants are being sprayed using drones and powerful machines besides hand sprayers. Announcements through mike are being made asking people not to come out in restricted-sealed areas.
Among those present during today’s inspection include senior Corporation officials Mr.Palanisamy, Mr.Premkumar, Mr.Sekar and PRO Mr.Chithravel.
