MADURAI: Close monitoring and strict vigil to prevent entry and exit of people in sealed- restricted areas in Madurai city because of Corona virus alert is being done by the Madurai Corporation.
Mehaboobplayam and Anaiyur (SVP Nagar Second Street) have been announced as shutdown areas by authorities in the wake of Corona positive cases. On 15th April 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had inspected these two places where barricading was done to prevent any sort of movement by people as a precautionary measure.
For one kilometre distance, there are barricades where Entry and Exit are strictly prohibited. Residents of that area are not allowed to come out to shops and essential commodities / groceries are home delivered. Corona disinfectants are being sprayed through drones in restricted- closed areas.
The Corporation Commissioner also went to Poonga Murugan Temple near Gandhi Museum where temporary shelter was provided to people living on pavements. A medical camp was also conducted today for those in temporary shelter in Kakkai Padiniyar Corporation School here.
Among those who were present during the Madurai Corporation Commissioner’s inspection include officials Mr.Premkumar, Mr.Palaniswamy, Mr.Sekar, Mr.Chithravel and others.
