Madurai American College reaches out to 100 families

MADURAI: Expressing its solidarity towards affected people during the current Corona virus crisis, the American College in Madurai had today contributed 100 bags of food essentials- rice, wheat, refined oil, dhal and masala items – to be supplied for 100 needy families.

The 100 packed bags containing these essential items were handed over to Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay here by a team led by American College Principal Dr.M.Thavamani Christober on 11th April 2020.

“We wanted to respond to our District Collector’s call to help the affected people with basic needs such as food items. On behalf of our college, we handed over the rice and grocery items packed in 100 bags which will be distributed to 100 families,” Dr.Thavamani Christober told ‘Lotus Times’ English news website here today. Each bag contains five kilos of rice, five kilos of wheat, one litre of refined oil, dhal and masala items.

Among those who were present along with the college Principal include- Bursar Dr.C.Sheela and faculty members Dr.Arulappan, Dr.Jebaraj, Prof.Rajesh and Prof.John Kamaraj. 

The American College, he said, will also provide 100 more such bags of essential food items to Madurai Corporation Commissioner soon.
